A Birthday Wish. 01.04.2020

I’m a lucky man.

I know it.

I have had great jobs, worked on great brands, worked with plenty of amazing people (there were a few idiots too along the way but thankfully only a few) and then I got to have a business of my own helping others build their brand.

Told you. Lucky!

Perhaps if things were different in the world right now I would be talking about how far we’ve come, how proud I am of our work and how confident we are in our ambition for the future. Actually all of that is true but right now I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude tinged with a healthy dose of fear.

I work with incredible people. Some of those people are on the payroll, others are partners, associates, clients or industry contacts. I am immensely lucky to be able to count many of them as friends too.

The shitstorm that is COVID-19 has done nothing but deepen the sense of gratitude and thankfulness for what I have. Yes, I worry about how things will pan out even though we are still busy supporting clients as they navigate their way through all of this. We know that life will not be the same again and I, like everyone else, have days when the climb out of this feels a little steeper than I would like it. But from day one (whenever that was?) my attitude and the attitude of everyone I have spoken to has been one of determination and togetherness; that we WILL get through it, especially if we pull together.

Where would we be without each other? Think about it. As clients and suppliers we need each other. Colleagues need each other. Employers and employees need each other. Professionally we need each other too; to compare notes, share insight, give counsel, sound off and stay sane. We need each other and we’re lucky to have each other.

Today Curzon is 12 years old. It’s our business birthday and I have a wish [by the way, do you think there will be a time when we can sing Happy Birthday and not think of washing our hands??]. A wish for you and for me.

That we stay healthy.
That we thrive.
That we do this together.

As that old saying says. “If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Absolutely!

You’ve read this far so, as I said…… I’m a lucky man.
