I have finished the last week of my 3-month digital marketing internship with Curzon, and it has been an incredible opportunity to learn about digital marketing and to experience a professional working environment.
In this role it was essential to have time and organisational skills to make sure work was completed for important deadlines. I was introduced to Asana, an amazing platform for organising the tasks from the account managers, asking questions, and receiving feedback from the work completed.
I was given the task of writing copy and developing content using the specific brand copy guidelines for each client. For example, I helped write about Mackie’s of Scotland’s brand refresh for the Curzon blog and during the process I came to understand Curzon’s brand first approach to marketing. I also found writing copy for Orca Hygiene’s new hand care range to be an exciting challenge. There was a sense of satisfaction when I saw my content and copy on client’s blogs and through their social media platforms.
Several interesting marketing resources and platforms were introduced to me, such as the Girls in Marketing blogs and podcasts. I found the platforms MailChimp and Campaign planner intriguing with their features to design and create layouts for e-mail marketing. I was also given the opportunity to use the design platform Canva to experiment and plan certain social media posts and blog graphics.
I have enjoyed the creative responsibility to write content across a range of topics and digital marketing activities, and any challenging tasks were a chance to improve and develop my copy writing skills. I studied English Literature at university, and during this internship I have gained an insight into how I can apply and use my degree in the future.
The team at Curzon were incredibly supportive and helpful during my time working in the office in Suffolk. I have found this to be a fulfilling and enjoyable experience that has expanded my knowledge and skills within digital marketing.
