Our top 9 moments from 2021

What a year! After a turbulent time, yet again in and out of lockdowns, we look at some of the top moments that stand out as the most memorable in 2021. In no particular order, and by no means including all our proudest moments because it was such a busy year; lots of successful client work, market insight sharing, and new team members.

1. New client

Back in February we took on a new client, Orca Hygiene. An inspirational brand, born out of the pandemic to provide hand sanitiser, recruited our help to build out their brand to encompass an entire janitorial range, not just sanitisers. Beyond the initial branding work, we continue to provide a complete outsourced marketing service for Orca Hygiene with some exciting campaigns in the pipeline.

2. Team building

At Curzon Marketing, we work hard and play hard! In the summer we managed a socially distanced, well-earned afternoon out of the office where we played a competitive game of croquet. It may have been a team-building exercise, but you can’t take the competitiveness out of us! Well done to the winners, Elliot and Jane!

3. Brand refresh

For ice cream brand Mackie’s of Scotland we undertook a brand refresh, bringing to life their brand proposition of ‘making simple delicious’ and amplifying their product quality and provenance credentials – ice cream made with fresh milk and cream, all on their family farm in Aberdeenshire. During the process we were mindful to make sure the changes were in line with the interests and values of Mackie’s consumers. The brand refresh included new packaging designs for their ice cream and chocolate ranges, the development of a new website, a revamped e-newsletter strategy and fresh video advertising across Facebook and Youtube. Check out the updated appearance of the Mackie’s brand via their website here.

4. Pro bono work

We felt privileged to be able to get involved with the local business community and undertook pro bono work for The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival, a well-renowned food festival promoting the food & drink of Suffolk producers. With little time to plan it was great to be able to support the team who worked tirelessly to bring the event to life during these uncertain times with creative work and social media content & management.

5. Team read

We like to stay on top of marketing literature and Steve is never short on suggestions. This might be an oldie but it’s a goodie – ‘Never mind the sizzle…where’s the sausage” by David J Taylor; a light but hugely informative take on brand-building. We’ll be sharing some more of our favourite reads in an upcoming post.

6. New product launch

We helped our long-standing client, Essex-based The Garden Trellis Company, develop a brand within a brand for a new product range, Vista Decorative Screens. Creating an ident for this new product range helped to distinguish the product and give the range its own identity. We created all the product photography, lifestyle photography, videos, social, email and print advertising. View our branding work for the Vista range here.

7. Social milestone

Leveraging the world of social media for brands takes consistent effort and patience. Since 2019 we’ve worked tirelessly to develop and execute a successful social media strategy for the Jacobsen brand of high-quality mowers designed for the sports industry, particularly golf. A standout moment this year, therefore, has to be passing 10K followers on Jacobsen Facebook, with great engagement too, and enjoying continued growth - now 13k…and counting!

8. Easily entertained!

As a team we felt very comfortable returning to the office, post lockdown, as we had a thorough plan in place, including personalised mugs. Our Curzon mugs allow us to avoid one of the germ hotspots found in an office. We are now back to working remotely but look forward to when we can be back together, building brands in the office once again!

9. New brand launch

This year, we worked hard to launch an exciting new brand in the recruitment industry - Thrive. We developed everything from the ground up, from name generation and brand identity development to industry launch & roll-out and an ongoing programme of marketing communications to attract candidates and build business. We believe in the power of a strong brand, forming the building blocks to any marketing programme.
